ArtCenter College of Design is a hub, focal point, gathering place, and launchpad for those in the creative fields. Arguably, the school is the global birthplace for the majority of car designers. Annually, the college pays homage to those with the ArtCenter Car Classic 2019.
This year the ArtCenter Car Classic is dubbed 70 years of Iconic Design. AutoDesignO wrangled some of the extraordinary talent to provide some definition to the word “icons”. Interviews with Erik Goplen, Fireball Tim Lawrence, Jay Leno, Frank Saucedo, Larry Wood, and Roger Zrimec.
Celebrating the first half-century of its existence, the Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary at its corporate HQ in El Segundo brings out the big cars. The full-size reproductions of Hot Wheels past and present remind us that a little kid’s dreams can indeed become a big kid’s reality.

To spur car companies into action, EcoMotors is showcasing how this can impact and revolutionize styling. To this extent a design competition, EcoMotors Design Challenge: Reshaping the Future, with students from Art Center and CCS is exemplifying just what could be possible. Judging by the results I would say anything and everything!
