Modernism Week Announces Fall Preview Schedule Weekend of Events

PALM SPRINGS, CA (September 10, 2014) – Modernism Week will host its Fall Preview in Palm Springs over the Columbus Day holiday weekend (October 10-13, 2014). Highlights include a festive opening night poolside beach party and outdoor movie at Hacienda Cantina & Beach Club, a sneak peek of the Palm Springs Art Museum's soon-to-open Architecture & Design museum, the first fall edition of the annual Modernism Show & Sale, exclusive tours of Frey House II and Steel House #1, architectural walking and bike tours, Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours, a cocktail reception showcasing photographs of the Salton Sea, and a sunset reception celebrating the architecture of Albert Frey, the Modernism Yard Sale, and the popular "Lost, Saved and Endangered" lecture.

Russian Ladas Eyes Invading European Market in 2015/2016

MOSCOW, (Sept. 7, 2014) -- AvtoVAZ, the largest automaker based in Russia, a part of Rostec Corporation, announced that it has introduced three new concept cars at the Moscow International Motor Show 2014. All are aimed to attract foreign and domestic customers as well as "restore people's pride for the brand of LADA" according to AvtoVAZ CEO Bo Inge Andersson. The move comes on the heels of AvtoVAZ-Renault-Nissan becoming the fourth largest manufacturer of automobiles worldwide following several successful moves by Rostec. Having become a shareholder of AvtoVAZ in 2008, Rostec appointed a group of managers to develop AvtoVAZ in 2009.

8 Design Studios Explore Human-to-Machine Connectivity at 2014 LAAS

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 3, 2014) – The Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show®) today announced that the theme for its 11th annual Design Challenge will prompt participants to explore the idea: "Sensing the Future: How Will Cars Interact with Us In 2029?" One of the most recognized auto design competitions in the world, LA Auto Show Design Challenge has confirmed participation from eight world-renowned design studios, each submitting a concept to showcase a connected vehicle or interface system designed with human emotion in mind. Entrants will explore interiors that will emotionally, comfortably and safely connect the driver and/or passengers to the car by 2029.

Added Attractions at Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace

(September 2, 2014) -- This weekend, the third international Concours of Elegance is taking place at Hampton Court Palace (5-7 September 2014), with 60 of the rarest cars from around the world – many of them never seen before in this country – gracing the Fountain Gardens on the East side of the historic Palace grounds. These 60 cars will be joined by over 500 other fine automobiles from the UK's leading car clubs and organised classic car tours, all displayed within the majestic setting of the Hampton Court Palace grounds, with many more classic cars to be found in a dedicated pre-1975 'tax exempt' parking area.

Bold and Progressive Design Defines the New Land Rover Discovery

MAHWAH, N.J. – (September 2, 2014) - Land Rover today revealed the new Discovery Sport, a versatile premium compact SUV that is the first member of the new Discovery vehicle family. A dynamic design with a compact footprint provides seven-passenger seating in a "5+2" configuration. The 2015 Discovery Sport will deliver a highly refined combination of performance, safety and efficiency thanks to a body shell of high-strength steel and lightweight aluminum, a 240hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. New Land Rover innovations debut in the Discovery Sport, including available Autonomous Emergency Braking2 and a new touchscreen infotainment system3.
