KODO represents the instant that energy becomes motion, such as the muscular beauty as an animal pounces or a human leaps into action. The KODO design cues on the Mazda RT24-P include the sleek body contours and the five-point Mazda grille.

Starting with a simple yet honed form free of non-essential elements, the development team adopted 'Refined Toughness' as the keyword upon which "mature physique", "elegant form", and "fine fit and finish" serve as the three pillars of the exterior and interior design.
Both exterior and interior indicate the direction Mitsubishi Design is taking. Overall, it evokes the image of a sporty crossover zipping nimbly around town as it merges the elegance and stylishness of a "shooting brake" with compact SUV lines.
The flowing lines are generated by a combination of precision machining and traditional craftsmanship. As part of this, a substrate beneath the fine wood veneer of the trim element is exposed in a special process using a fine milling.
