The auto industry has recently lost another designer that so many of us have known as a colleague and a friend. Jeff Teague passed on at the age of 59.

The ACCD Alumni followed in the footsteps of his father, Richard. Jeff left his mark as the Chief of Design for Volkswagen Design of America, and as a Senior Designer at Mitsubishi Motors of America. He also contributed to the design efforts at Ford, Hyundai/Kia, and Subaru.

Afterwards, Teague opened shop just north of Los Angeles. His efforts were instrumental at reviving two classic automotive brands. Both attempts to return Duesengberg and Packard back to the road were cut short. However, the passion in these projects is clearly seen in his designs.

As a tribute to Jeff, a celebration of his life will take place at Art Center College of Design on Sunday, August 28th at 11:30 AM at the Hillside Campus at the Sculpture Garden (where the Car Classic is held). There will be a service and presentation on Jeff’s life and accomplishments, and time to reflect with colleagues, friends, and family.

The family of Jeff Teague has asked that anyone wishing to make a donation in Jeff’s memory please do so to the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO).
