Welcome to AutoDesignO, the automotive design organization, an association of design studios, and industry professionals that help to staff and facilitate the development of production and concept vehicles.

The Southern California-based AutoDesignO is a professional association dedicated to advancing improved business relations, communications within the design industry. Membership is available to design studios, staff and freelance designers, clay modelers, color and trim, digital design and modeling, fabricators, studio engineers, students, studio design and modeling managers, and similar design professionals, as well as industry suppliers, aftermarket companies, consumer groups, governmental bodies, temp and staffing agencies, media and PR, and other transportation design-related firms and organizations.

AutoDesignO currently has an international membership with members residing in Australia, Europe, South America, and the United States - from Southern California to Michigan.

_Endeavors

AutoDesignO offers a variety of activities and services to benefit its members:

• AutoDesignO News — The organization brings “insider” information and insight to subjects ranging from vehicle-related environmental legislation, to new technical developments, and corporate activities. Regularly updated the News section  provides a convenient opportunity to keep up-to-date on the information that every transportation professional needs to know.
  
  
• AutoDesignO Online — The frequently updated website features a briefing of upcoming industry events, workshops, seminar, and presentations, along with special events developed by AutoDesignO. Constantly updated industry news, articles, a design studio oriented candidate search, numerous resources, and other topics of interest are also available.
  
  
• Special Events — Providing members “up close and personal” contact with interesting cars, trucks, and people. Anticipated events are created to provide superior insight to various aspects of design, be it directly automotive related or indirectly. Periodic special tours and hands-on affairs are offering more concentrated exposure to a variety of subjects.
  
  
• AutoDesignO Meetings — The organization’s social/business activity will feature everything from prominent guest speakers who bring ideas and insight to subjects ranging from vehicle-related environmental legislation, to new technical developments, trends, and corporate happenings. Held on a semi-regular basis and concurrently with the association’s special events, these opportunities also provide convenient opportunities for valuable face-to-face networking.
  
  
• Membership Roster and Resources — This online publication is a comprehensive “phone book” that lists both AutoDesignO members and key industry contacts. The online site with both e-mail and website links is available to members only.
  
  
• Access — The members’ only sections of the AutoDesignO website provides industry news, pertinent articles and information, membership and industry contact information.

_Membership

AutoDesignO membership is open to active and retired clay modelers, color and trim, composite technicians, designers, digital professionals, fabricators, managers, students, studio engineers, and other professionals working in the greater automotive design industry. A membership registration is required for participation in meetings, events, and online services. If verification is required additional documentation of employment activity, or other confirmation can be requested. Membership is subject to the determination of AutoDesignO.

 There are four main membership classifications in AutoDesignO: Individual-Member, Design Studio-Member, Affiliate/Sponsor-Member, and Media. Access to services are based on the level of membership granted.

  To qualify as an Individual-Member, he or she must be a working, or retired design studio professional in the automotive industry, or related fields such as the aftermarket, an OEM supplier, a transportation design professional, or student at a recognized design schools, etc.

  Design Studio-Member encompasses studios, OEM suppliers, staffing agencies, and other design and automotive related businesses. Access is only allowed to those that perform management, or supervisory level assignments within the design industry, and are currently an employee at member design studio. This class of membership is granted only to entities, not individuals.

  Affiliate and Sponsor membership is open to appropriate professionals who work in the automotive industry, but do not meet the requirements for Individual-Member, or Design Studio-Member. Examples would be other associations, marketing personnel, and advertising personnel, etc.

  Media membership is open to appropriate professionals who work in the automotive industry in print publications as editors, photographers, and writers. Additionally, those employed by audio or video outlets, such as television and internet, etc. are included.

At the discretion of the AutoDesignO, individuals who are Affiliate/Sponsor/Media-Members that have substantial contact with the working automotive design industry maybe deemed eligible for membership as either an Individual-Member or Design Studio-Member.

Members and Design Studio Members are eligible to participate on the Advisory Panel appointed by the association Director. Affiliate/Sponsor-Members may participate in all AutoDesignO activities and committees, but may not be on the Advisory Panel.

  Dues for AutoDesignO members are $20 per year (payable through the AutoDesignO website via credit card) and must accompany a membership registration. Failure to renew dues in a timely manner will result in a member’s name being removed from the membership roster; such persons may rejoin at any time, but only after submitting a new registration application, fee, and if requested the necessary documentation of recent professional activity.

Design Studio Member annual rates are based on production numbers, offering the most affordable membership for companies that produce smaller volumes. On a per vehicle basis, the companies with the largest production numbers will have the lowest cost per vehicle. Contact AutoDesignO for current membership fees.
